About Us
The Montana Building Industry Association (MBIA) is a not-for-profit organization of small Montana businesses that have banded together to promote and protect the homebuilding industry in the state of Montana.
MBIA is comprised of 9 local associations from around the state of Montana. Together those local associations have over 2300 small business members and build over 75% of the homes in our state. Additionally, MBIA is part of the National Association of Homebuilders, one of the largest trade associations in the nation.
MBIA works with the Montana State Fund to provide a significant amount of safety training and reduced workers’ compensation rates to members through the GRIP program.
NAHB , located in Washington D.C is an effective voice for homebuilders all over the country. NAHB has over 235,000 members and has developed a world class housing research center to provide independent third-party evaluation and testing of products and materials to keep builders on the leading edge of technology. At the same time, the Research Center enhances the quality and affordability of housing materials.
In addition to researching the design and construction of homes and testing new products, the Research Center also studies important social and policy issues such as land use, the environment, affordable and sustainable housing, and special needs housing.
Mission Statement:
The Montana Building Industry Association (MBIA) is the voice of Montana’s housing, remodeling, and light commercial construction industry. Through strength in membership and coalition, the mission of the MBIA is to support and enhance the vitality of the building industry in Montana, to develop and support pro-housing initiatives which encourage home ownership, to foster free enterprise and to establish a positive business climate for housing and light construction. Our primary focus is to influence those laws, policies and initiatives of the legislative, judicial, and executive agencies of Montana government which affect our industry and to extend that focus to local program and regulatory policies which may have statewide impact.This mission is established both in support of the housing and light construction needs of our citizens and for the benefit of our members.
